Houston Rocket center Hakeem Olajuwon, his season ended prematurely by a blood disorder, said his health would determine whether he returns to the NBA next year. Olajuwon, in the final year of his contract, will undergo six months of treatment for what doctors said was a blood clot in his left leg.

Former Laker executive Jerry West and players Alonzo Mourning of the Miami Heat and Theo Ratliff of the Atlanta Hawks were among those named to the NBA’s rules committee, the league said.
