Los Angeles Mayor James K. Hahn plans to take his first foreign trip this weekend, when he heads to Mexico to meet with officials about trade, tourism and airport security.
During his three-day trip to Mexico City, Hahn is scheduled to meet with Mexican President Vicente Fox, along with other government officials and business leaders. The mayor will get a briefing on security at Mexico City’s Benito Juarez International Airport, talk to Mexican airline representatives and tour the cultural sites of Los Angeles’ sister city.
“This is an important opportunity to develop stronger relationships with our close neighbor and one of our largest trading partners,” Hahn said in a statement. “During these tough economic times, it is particularly important that we continue to build these partnerships.”
