Trying to determine if workers know how to make their way around the building, the State Department is conducting random interviews among employees.

Notices posted throughout the building describe the objective of the survey as “wayfinding.”

“The department is researching methods to improve the manner in which employees and visitors find their way through the corridors and locate offices and facilities,” the announcement said.

An architect and a planning company were conducting the interviews in the cafeteria and other areas around the Washington building.
