US Airways Reaches Pact With Union

US Airways Group Inc. said it reached a tentative agreement with a union for flight crew training instructors that is needed to help secure a $900-million loan guarantee from the federal government.
The agreement was made with the Transport Workers Union of America, which represents 114 flight crew training instructors in Charlotte, N.C., and Pittsburgh, US Airways said.
The carrier won conditional approval for the loan guarantee Wednesday from the Air Transportation Stabilization Board. US Airways said it needs the guarantee to raise $1 billion in financing and avoid a bankruptcy filing.
US Airways, which needs worker and creditor concessions to get final approval, already has tentative pacts with unions representing flight attendants, dispatchers and simulator engineers and is in talks with unions for pilots and others.
