Respecting Landmarks
The Losing of America continues to creep across our nation, as noted in “Historic Buildings Get New Life as Hotels in Capital” (News, Tips & Bargains, June 30). How can one of our capital’s “most historic landmarks, the 1842 General Post Office Building,” be renamed the Monaco after being remodeled as a high-end hotel?
Does that truly reflect the image and respect we owe our country?
I know that I would never go to Washington and stay in that hotel since the name does not reflect its historic significance.
