Teacher Harassment Verdict Nullified

A Superior Court judge threw out a $4.35-million verdict Friday for a Palisades High School teacher who accused the Los Angeles Unified School District of allowing students to publish a newspaper portraying her as a porn star.
Judge Kenneth Freeman granted the district’s motion for a new trial, calling the award excessive and citing trial errors in admitting evidence and giving jury instructions, said district general counsel Hal Kwalwasser.
Former teacher Janis Adams took a leave of absence and sued the district claiming sexual harassment after 10 issues of the underground newspaper were published.
