Teenager Charged in Sexual Abuse Claims

A teenager has been charged with making false claims of sexual abuse against a retired priest.
The 14-year-old boy told Utica authorities about two weeks ago that Msgr. H. Charles Sewall had recently molested him. But investigators found inconsistencies in his story and the boy recanted, a prosecutor said.
This week, three men filed $20-million lawsuits alleging Sewall, 67, molested them as teenagers in the 1970s and 1980s.
On May 3, Sewall issued an apology, admitting to sexual misconduct with a teen in the 1970s.
