Not Guilty Plea Entered in Mailbox Bombings

The college student accused of planting pipe bombs in Iowa and four other states pleaded not guilty in a federal court in Cedar Rapids.
Luke Helder, 21, was indicted Wednesday by a federal grand jury. He is charged with using a pipe bomb to destroy a mailbox and using a bomb in a crime of violence, which could bring a sentence of life in prison.
Helder is accused of planting 18 bombs in mailboxes in Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska, Colorado and Texas.
