Matt Koffler, who took over as football coach at Lakewood Artesia High less than two months ago, has been fired.
Koffler, 24, who played quarterback at USC, coached at Rosemead High for three seasons, guiding the team to the Southern Section Division VII semifinals last season.
He accepted the position at Artesia in April and was completing spring football practice when he was released from his job on Wednesday.
District spokeswomen Kathy Frazier refused to comment on the personnel decision.
