Biker Mentality Takes Many Twists and Turns

Re “Filling the Need for Speed,” June 5: Please don’t give these so-called adrenaline junkies their due. I too used to ride these same roads that these so-called motorcyclists call their home. Then, in a blink of an eye, I was on the ground, hit head-on while riding on my side of the road, minding my own business.
No, I don’t ride anymore, but I do have all my limbs. The kid who hit me? He had to learn how to do everything with his left arm and hand. And I never really felt bad about that. These people are not--nor will they ever be--motorcyclists.

I found your article on bikers gratifying. I want to find a way to stop motorcyclists (and small race cars) from endangering my Santa Monica Mountains neighborhood. I have exercised patience, reason, admonishment, restraint--and called the California Highway Patrol to stop the racing. It continues unabated.
This utter disregard for oneself and others are acts of terrorism. To react with equal violence is a shameful repetition of the world’s behavior. How do you reach this myopic behavior dictated by narcissism?
Sending them to another planet is appealing. I suppose the law of eternal justice will be played out. In the meantime, I urge everyone to practice harmlessness.
