A 16-year-old Oxnard girl accused of running over a man inside his garage last month has denied charges of vehicular manslaughter and of causing a hit-and-run crash while intoxicated, prosecutors said Monday.
Francisca Amezcua was arraigned in Juvenile Court and a trial was set for June 27. If convicted, the girl would face up to four years in the California Youth Authority.
Authorities allege that Amezcua was drunk on May 31 when she struck 32-year-old Evarado Ramirez with a pickup truck inside a garage in the 500 block of East Dollie Street in Oxnard. Authorities said Amezcua drove away.
Ramirez died at the scene.
