Rates for 30-, 15-Year Mortgages Edge Down

The average interest rate on 30-year fixed-rate mortgages fell to 6.55% this week, mortgage company Freddie Mac said, down from 6.63% the previous week.
Fifteen-year mortgages, a popular option for refinancing, dropped to 5.99% this week, the lowest level since early November. This week’s rate was down from 6.08% the week before. On one-year adjustable-rate mortgages, lenders were asking an average initial rate of 4.61%, down from 4.60% the previous week.
