Two helicopters rescued 48 more people from a ship trapped in ice near Antarctica, but rescue officials feared that a coming storm could delay efforts to evacuate 38 people still stranded on board.
The copters arrived aboard the South African ship Agulhas, which left Cape Town on June 16 to rescue the 79 Russian scientists and 28 crew members aboard the German-owned Magdalena Oldendorff, which has been stuck for more than two weeks in temperatures as low as minus 20.
The helicopters took 21 people back to the Agulhas on Thursday.
