Government Offers Plan to Reduce Water Debt

From Times Wire Reports

MEXICO

Mexico has proposed a plan to reduce its water debt to the U.S., and officials say they won’t have to institute strict conservation measures to make the payments.

The proposal calls for Mexico to increase its annual water payment to the U.S. from about 15.2 billion cubic feet to about 24 billion cubic feet a year for the next five years.

That would reduce the debt to 24 billion cubic feet. The government provided no details of how it would pay off the rest of the debt.
