D.A. Won’t Seek Death in Slaying of Couple

The man accused of fatally stabbing the owners of a popular North Hollywood restaurant at their home two years ago will not face the death penalty, Los Angeles County prosecutors decided Thursday.
Israel Cebrera Pulido, 24, of Sylmar is charged with stabbing Sabato and Eugenia Russo, both 73.
He met the couple, who owned of Sabatino’s Italian Restaurant and Bakery, when he helped refinish the wooden floors at their house.
He allegedly returned to steal money and jewelry.
