Jefferson Tops Carson, 48-28

The bottom half of the draw in the City Championship football playoffs took two major hits Thursday, thanks in part to L.A. Jefferson routing second-seeded Carson, 48-28.
Ryan Clark rushed nine times for 128 yards and two touchdowns and caught a 50-yard touchdown pass to lead the Democrats, the 15th-seeded team and the No. 4 Coliseum League representative, to the upset at Carson High.
Vincent Reese rushed for 63 yards in 12 carries and scored two touchdowns for Jefferson (6-5). Ryan Connor rushed six times for 25 yards and one touchdown for Jefferson.
Carson, the Marine League champion, finished 8-3.
Also, No. 3 Crenshaw lost to Fairfax, 13-12, leaving No. 6 Birmingham as the highest-seeded team left in the lower half of the draw.
