MWD Loses Big Share of Colorado River Supplies

In response to a federal judge’s order, the Department of Interior redistributed California’s share of the Colorado River on Monday, cutting the amount of water flowing to metropolitan Los Angeles, San Diego and desert cities near Palm Springs.
The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California will lose 17%, or 121,000 acre-feet, of its Colorado River water allotment this year. The agency said it had sufficient reserves.
