Bikes Losing Traction as Mode of Transportation
- Share via
The fact that road bikes are the only bright spot in an otherwise lackluster U.S. bike market (“Pedaling to Profit,” July 27) is a sad commentary on our reluctance to use bicycles for transportation.
Kids who prefer skateboards and scooters and adults who drive a few blocks to do local errands are part of the problem.
Bike manufacturers and advertisers, who focus on and thereby glorify racing and off-road bikes instead of bikes equipped to carry things, don’t help either.
