Re “Planned Sequel to Patriot Act Losing Audience,” July 29: How has the USA Patriot Act provided Americans with a sense of protection against terrorism? In fact, it has done quite the opposite. The war on terror has turned into a war on constitutionally guaranteed civil liberties. The Patriot Act has added to our worries instead of combating them.
Americans fear terrorism and now an Orwellian government as well. Our representatives need to listen to the American public and repeal the Patriot Act before it is too late.
