County Worker Gets $10,000 for Good Idea

A San Bernardino County employee was awarded $10,000 on Tuesday for saving the county more than $500,000. The award was part of an incentive program that encourages workers to come up with ideas to improve county operations, county supervisors said.
Cheryl Rayford, a clerk in the Behavioral Health Department, initiated a plan to help clients obtain Medi-Cal coverage, which so far has saved $224,590. An additional $277,000 in savings is pending.
The county’s Suggestion Award Program grants cash based on 10% of the savings, with a maximum award of $10,000.
