From Times Wire Reports
Police near the Istanbul wedding site for Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s son used clubs and pepper spray to disperse a crowd protesting possible deployment of peacekeeping troops to Iraq.
Dozens were detained. About 5,000 police, including sharpshooters on roofs, were deployed, one for every two of the estimated 10,000 guests. A bomb exploded near Erdogan’s party headquarters, but there was no evidence it was linked to the wedding, media reported.
