Importing Drugs From Canada Is Illegal, FDA Says

The Food and Drug Administration has warned California officials that importing drugs from Canada, where medicines sell for less than in the U.S., is illegal.
A letter to California Deputy Atty. Gen. Gregory Gonot is part of the agency’s campaign against Canadian imports, which many senior citizens rely on for medicines they can’t afford in the U.S.
“Many drugs obtained from foreign sources that purport and appear to be the same as U.S.-approved prescription drugs have been of unknown quality,” wrote William Hubbard, the FDA’s associate commissioner for policy and planning.
No person, country, government program or state can import prescription drugs from Canada legally, Hubbard wrote. His letter was first reported in the Wall Street Journal.
