Re “Actor Breathes New Life Into a Warrior’s Ways,” Nov. 28: To many people of Asia, the word “Bushido” evokes painful memories of brutal military expansionism, colonial subjugation, civilian massacres and barbaric beheading contests, as well as images of kamikaze attacks and ritualistic disembowelments.
