Judge Stays Planned Layoff of City Workers

Layoffs of more than 700 workers in Cleveland were put on hold after a judge granted a request by the city’s police and firefighter unions for a temporary restraining order.
The workers were scheduled to be laid off today as part of the city’s effort to close a $61-million budget gap.
The decision put the job cuts on hold for one week.
