EchoStar Must Face California Lawsuit

EchoStar Communications Corp. must face a California lawsuit over promotional statements the firm made about its Dish Network, an appeals court ruled.
The California Court of Appeal in Los Angeles reinstated a suit brought by Consumer Advocates, which claimed that EchoStar’s sales brochure falsely said a program package included 50 channels and allowed customers to see program schedules seven days in advance.
EchoStar had argued that it didn’t mean the 50 channels would be available at all times and that the programming schedule statement meant only that the system had the capacity to show such a schedule.
