From Times Staff Reports
Mission Viejo was recognized this week as the second-safest midsize city in the nation, based on 2002 FBI crime statistics.
No other Orange County city ranked in the top 10 among those with populations of 75,000 to 100,000.
Mission Viejo was ranked sixth last year and first two years ago. The 10th annual America’s Safest Cities Awards are determined by studying the frequency of murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary and motor-vehicle theft.
