From Times Wire Reports
Bidding is still open for a new transit center here after three construction firms quoted prices well above the city’s calculated cost.
The city estimated the Downtown Transit Center would cost between $350,000 and $700,000, but the three companies that bid all said they would charge more than $1 million to complete the project.
The highest bid, by REM Construction of Paradise, was $1.4 million.
Plans call for a main terminal and three free-standing canopies for shelter, with each structure covered by solar energy panels.
