5 Pakistanis Held Under Anti-Terror Law

Cypriot police said they had detained five Pakistanis under anti-terrorism laws after they were found loitering at a small airport on the island.
Cyprus has been on high alert for the last week since the U.S. warned that terrorists could try to strike at British or U.S. commercial aircraft in the region.
“They have been arrested as suspects for planning to commit a possible terrorist act,” Cyprus deputy police chief Sotiris Charalambous said.
Police said the men aroused suspicions because they gave conflicting accounts of what they were doing outside the terminal in Paphos, a resort 75 miles from their homes in the capital, Nicosia. No charges have been filed.
