Trustees facing $1.2 million in budget cuts said they may be forced to lay off about 20 teachers in San Luis Obispo County’s largest school district.
The school board plans to increase class sizes to make up most of the shortfall in its $70-million budget for 2003-04.
The board met most of the day Tuesday to review how to deal with the deficit. The district must meet a March 15 notification deadline if layoffs are necessary.
