From Times staff reports
A former Orange County prosecutor who pleaded guilty to grand theft and forging a state rebate check was sentenced Friday to two years in state prison.
Sean Regan Stafford, 42, entered his plea in Orange County Superior Court in November to charges that he altered a $15 check from the Department of Motor Vehicles to $150,000.
Stafford already had resigned from the district attorney’s office after an arrest for drunk driving and resisting arrest.
He was sentenced to three years’ probation and ordered to attend alcohol counseling classes.
