Hotel Project Cut Back; Vote May Still Be Needed

A Newport Beach hotel developer has submitted a scaled-down Balboa Peninsula project that calls for a two-story, 100,000-square-foot hotel with 110 rooms instead of 156.
But city officials said further review is needed to determine whether the revised proposal for the Regent Newport Beach Resort requires voter approval.
