Arnold Schwarzenegger, With Brawn and Brains
- Share via
I have read letters lately bashing Arnold Schwarzenegger, with comments like “We need brains not brawn in the governor’s office,” or “California doesn’t want a governor like Minnesota’s Jesse Ventura” (July 2). Though I do not know whether Schwarzenegger is going to someday be a candidate for governor, I would like to point out a few things about him. Schwarzenegger holds a bachelor’s degree in business and international economics from the University of Wisconsin-Superior. He also holds two honorary degrees, one from Chapman University, and was a self-made millionaire before his career in Hollywood blossomed.
While Schwarzenegger may be a Republican, he also happens to be married into one of the top Democratic families in the country. So, I’m sure that if he wants advice, he can get it from sources that other candidates couldn’t.

I hate to spoil the fun for the partisans-gone-wild in the Republican Party, but can someone please explain to me who arranged for Schwarzenegger to use our troops in Iraq on July 4 as a prop for his campaign for governor?
Imagine the outcry if Hillary Clinton tried to pull a move like that.
