The miniseries was criticized for its subject matter and it changed focus midstream, but in the end, CBS’ “Hitler: The Rise of Evil” earned seven Emmy nominations. Robert Carlyle, left, in the title role, was not nominated, but Peter O’Toole was, for supporting actor for his portrayal of German President Paul von Hindenburg. In the category of outstanding miniseries, it will vie with the depiction of another power usurper, A&E;’s “Napoleon,” and the alien epic “Steven Spielberg Presents: Taken” from the Sci Fi Channel.
