A Eureka contractor has been fined $50,000 and placed on two years’ probation for diverting a Humboldt County stream and letting dirt flow into a creek.
Robert Leslie Figas, 48, owner of Figas Construction, had pleaded guilty to the charges.
Humboldt County Superior Court Judge J. Michael Brown on Tuesday suspended half the fine. The plea came as a jury stood by to start a misdemeanor trial.
