Windshield Trial Testimony Ends

FORT WORTH — A homeless man struck by a car and wedged in its windshield bled to death over the course of several hours from injuries that included a nearly amputated leg, a Texas medical examiner testified Wednesday.
Tarrant County Chief Medical Examiner Nizam Peerwani testified that Greg Biggs suffered several bone fractures and bled to death in the garage of former nurse’s aide Chante Mallard, 27, who is standing trial for murder after hitting Biggs with her car and leaving him to die while lodged in the windshield.
“He certainly had serious injuries,” Peerwani told the court. “He could have been saved.”
Prosecutors ended their case with testimony from Biggs’ son about his father’s nomadic life.
The defense also rested after presenting one witness, Vincent DiMaio, the Bexar County medical examiner, who said he thought Biggs lost consciousness after slamming through the windshield.
