Weiland has Velvet voice

Scott Weiland cemented his rock god status at last week’s Velvet Revolver show at the El Rey Theatre. Backed by the boys of Guns N’ Roses, the super-sexy singer channeled Johnny Rotten, Mick Jagger and Jim Morrison -- and all in the first two songs. And the uber-group had more than the hit “Hulk” song “Set Me Free” in its arsenal. They thrashed their way through the Stone Temple Pilots’ “Sex Type Thing” before launching into a blazing performance of GNR’s “It’s So Easy.” Fans got the best of both worlds and, with Weiland at the mike, no one missed you-know-who.... We had to rock and dash because Loyal Pennings was showing off his new spot. The nightclub owner (Las Palmas/Joya) offered a sneak peek of his latest venture, Concorde, at a bash he was host of for Avia shoes Thursday. Concorde, located up the street from White Lotus in the increasingly hot Cahuenga Corridor, is a collaboration between Pennings and former Las Palmas bartender Chereen Arazm, model Jason Shaw and DJ Scott Oster, who designed the nightclub, which includes a makeshift moat (no doubt to keep out the heathens). Although Concorde will be the site of a few private bashes (including a gala for David Spade), things get busy after the July 4 weekend, when Bolt-
house Productions takes over Wednesdays. Pennings says he’s opening a boutique hotel called El Centro at the end of July. The three-room hotel is three blocks from the Three Clubs at a former transvestite bar called Don Gordo’s El Sombrero Club. Ole.
