New grants aid local theaters
A.S.K. Theater Projects has announced the first winners of grants in its new Los Angeles Initiative, which funds local companies that are committed to new work.
Receiving $25,000 grants are Actors’ Gang, Colony Theatre Company and East West Players. Among smaller-budgeted theaters, Open Fist Theatre, Road Theatre and Theatre of NOTE will receive $7,500 each.
The new program was committed among concerns that recent changes in the funding organization’s operations might result in less money for Los Angeles artists.
