Government Hails End of British Flight Ban

Kenya cheered Britain’s lifting of a ban on flights to Nairobi and said its game parks and beaches were open for badly needed business.
“We are welcoming the lifting of the ban,” said Isayah Kabira, spokesman for President Mwai Kibaki. “We are hoping that the security measures that we seek to put in place will continue to earn the trust of local residents and the international community.”
Britain said it decided to lift the ban because security in Nairobi had been improved. Several attacks on tourists in Kenya have been blamed on Al Qaeda, including a bombing of a hotel last year that killed 16 people.
