Re “Where L.A. Looks Pretty as a Picture Postcard,” Feb. 27:
Lucky me. Like “Lucky” Baldwin, I enjoyed the view from Baldwin Hills. I lived on Cloverdale Avenue, and my father, Dr. Alfred I. Coleman, led a fight against former Los Angeles Mayor Sam Yorty, who wanted this area turned into a landfill for garbage.
How lucky we are that almost 40 years after the dam break there is this inner-city open space instead of a dump.
