From Staff and Wire Reports
DNA evidence collected 25 years ago during a homicide investigation has led to the arrest of a former death row inmate in his prison cell.
Norman Arthur Whitehorn, 65, is suspected of raping and murdering Donna Hooker, a 21-year-old North Highlands woman in 1978 -- just months after being paroled from a prison term for raping and killing a Los Angeles woman in 1962.
Whitehorn was arrested Wednesday at Mule Creek State Prison, where he was serving a 50-year sentence on weapons charges.
