New hits by the old (fake) Elvis

For some Elvis fans, it seems, it’s tempting to imagine what the modern songbook would sound like as rendered by the King. Elvis impersonator Doug Church satisfies that curiosity with an album called “Kingtinued” -- and, as reflected in this comment from his Web site (https://myelvis.com) at least one listener finds Elvis-like versions of non-Elvis tunes like “Livin’ La Vida Loca” better than one might expect:
“Kingtinued is great! 2 CDs full with great music. The singer, Mr. Doug Church, is one of the best Elvis interpreters there is. He can really sound like Elvis when he sings Elvis songs. On Kingtinued he sings mostly non-Elvis songs, but he does that great! His voice is pretty close to Elvis even here, but the songs are done with the original style. Elvis-like voice, but not really the Elvis style. It’s hard to imagine Elvis singing “La Vida Loca,” but Mr. Church does a great job on it. My favourite songs are: Statue Of A Fool, Graceland, Achy Breaky Heart, Candle In The Wind, All My Ex’s Live In Texas, Jump Jive and Wail....”
