12 Killed, 70 Hurt in Fire at Garment Factory

A garment factory fire in Ludhiana, India, killed at least 12 people and injured 70, officials said. A witness said the dead and injured included child laborers.
The fire was sparked when a cooking gas cylinder in a downstairs residence exploded, officials said. Most victims in the second-floor garment factory were migrant laborers.
The witness, Kuldip Kumar, said the fire spread quickly because of chemicals in the factory.
