From Times Wire Reports
Facing demands to make its government more open and accessible, Saudi Arabia will start televising 30-minute excerpts of the weekly sessions of the kingdom’s consultative Shura Council.
Council Chairman Saleh ibn Humaid said the move aims to involve the public in the activities of the 120-member panel, a body handpicked by King Fahd that has no legislative powers.
Council sessions have not yet been televised or opened to the public, but diplomats, journalists and Saudis can attend on request or invitation.
