U.S. Freeing Some Guantanamo Prisoners

The United States will release two dozen prisoners from Guantanamo Bay in the coming weeks, an American envoy said.
Pierre-Richard Prosper, the U.S. ambassador-at-large for war crimes, said several dozen other prisoners would be transferred to the custody of authorities in their native countries.
More than 600 prisoners are being held incommunicado at the U.S. naval base in Cuba, accused of having links to Al Qaeda or the ex-Taliban regime in Afghanistan.
About 60 former suspects have been released.
