Man Sues Over Alleged Abuse by Police Officers

A man filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against Fresno police in U.S. District Court, saying he was sitting in his car when officers pointed a gun at him, handcuffed him, beat him and then released a police dog on him.
Carlos Molinero wasn’t charged until five months after the Jan. 13 incident, according to his attorney, Leslie W. Westmoreland. The charge was misdemeanor resisting arrest.
The attorney representing the city, Rosemary T. McGuire, said she had not yet inspected police records and could not comment on the arrest. But McGuire has filed motions to dismiss the complaint.
The next court date is scheduled for Dec. 2.
