What happens if I get to my polling place late on election day and there’s a line?

According to California state election codes, workers must keep the polls open until everyone who is in line to vote at closing time -- 8 p.m. -- has cast a ballot.
If you think you may have trouble getting to your polling place on time, you can request an absentee ballot anytime before Sept. 30.
In some counties, including Los Angeles, early voting stations will be open in the two weeks before election day.
