Bicyclist Struck and Killed on Irvine Overpass

A bicyclist was hit and killed Thursday night on a freeway overpass in Irvine, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP Officer Stacy Willits said the man was biking across the Lake Forest Drive overpass of northbound Interstate 5 about 8:15 p.m. when he was struck. The driver involved in the accident stopped at the scene.
The bicyclist was taken to Mission Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo, where he later died. His name was not released pending notification of relatives.
The accident remains under investigation, Willits said.
