Dignitaries’ Delay Stalls Departure of Panda

Hua Mei will remain at the San Diego Zoo a little longer.
The 4-year-old giant panda’s departure to China has been delayed again.
She was to leave next week, but Chinese officials are still gathering a delegation of dignitaries to be here for her farewell ceremony.
Hua Mei was born in 1999 at the zoo, the first panda born in the United States to live more than a few days.
