Baseball May Have More Close Calls
In the aftermath of the Gary Sheffield incident, it seems that Major League Baseball wants it both ways: pack stadiums so full of seats that spectators are inches from the action and then expect those spectators not to interfere when the action comes into those seats.
MLB either has to create a fan-less buffer zone between field and fans, like many other sports, or accept that when a player leaves the field and enters a spectator area, he’s on his own.
