Bangor’s Troop Greeters Rate a Well Done

Re “Welcome Stop for Warriors,” Column One, April 20: As I was enjoying my morning cup of coffee it was heartwarming to read about the citizens of Bangor, Maine, and their dedication to our troops. Their willingness to greet our Marines, sailors and soldiers, no matter what the weather or time, shows that there is good in this world.
As the wife of a retired Marine, I know what these men and women are going through, and if we are ever in Maine in the near future, you can be sure that my husband and I will make it a point to join these fine citizens in their noble pursuit.

What an inspiration to read about plain, decent, unselfish Americans welcoming and showing support for other plain, decent, unselfish Americans who have been risking life, limb and health in far-away lands. What a relief after the stories of greed, hubris, aberration and emotional collision that have flooded the press in recent weeks.
Maine troop greeters, you have lifted my spirits.
